What happens after I buy? +

You receive a license key and download link immediately. Install the app, enter your key to activate, create your PIN and you're in. Takes under 2 minutes.

Is my financial data safe? +

Completely. Your data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored only on your device. We have no servers. There is no way for us or anyone else to access your data — even if we wanted to.

What does "lifetime" actually mean? +

You pay once and own the software permanently. All future updates are included at no extra cost. There are no renewal fees, no subscription, nothing further to pay.

Why only 100 licenses? +

The founding tier is built for people who want to get in early and own it outright — no recurring costs, no strings. 100 seats is the limit. Once they're gone, the app moves to a standard monthly plan.

What if I get a new computer? +

Your license works on up to 2 machines. If you're moving to a new device, you can copy your vault data across as a single encrypted file — open it on the new machine with the same PIN and everything is there. Worth knowing: if you activate on a second machine without copying your vault file across, that device starts with a fresh empty vault. Your data doesn't sync automatically between devices — it stays wherever you saved it. If you need help transferring your vault to a new machine, get in touch at founder@thevaultco.app and we'll walk you through it.

Is there a refund policy? +

14-day no-questions-asked refund. If Vault isn't for you, contact us within 14 days of purchase and you'll receive a full refund.

Why does Windows warn me when installing? +

When you first run the installer, Windows Defender may show a SmartScreen warning saying the app is from an unknown publisher. This is completely normal for any new independent application that hasn't yet built up enough installs to be automatically trusted by Microsoft. Your device is safe. To proceed, click "More info" then "Run anyway" — it's a one-time step that disappears as the app grows.
